When Graham Warnock joined St George’s School in Blackpool as a 22 year old Newly Qualified Geography Teacher, little did he know that one day he would become the Headteacher at this prestigious Church of England Academy.
St George’s is one of the highest achieving secondary schools in Blackpool with 1,000 students and 120 committed and enthusiastic staff.
The academy recently received an ‘Outstanding’ judgement for its SIAMs inspection and its last HMI monitoring visit ‘Safeguarding’ and ‘Behaviour’ were judged to be ‘Outstanding’.
Mr Warnock, a graduate from Queens University Belfast underwent a rigorous selection process during which his faith, passion and true ‘Team SG’ spirit shone through. Mr Warnock said, “This is a very proud moment in my career to be given the opportunity to lead St George's School.
I am delighted to have the privilege of building on past successes and taking the academy on the next stage of its journey. As a school we will continue to focus on the three elements of our mission statement: “Believe, Achieve, Care.”
Mr Warnock also expressed his thanks to the team of fantastic staff and all the pupils for their kind words of support and congratulations during the recruitment process.
Mr Warnock will celebrate with the students by leading whole school college worship and sharing his vision for continual improvement.
